That's lovely! It looks like something that would go great on the shoulders. The design is so smooth and curvy. There are a couple points where it gets kind of sharp but you barely notice them. I love the colors on the flower too. It's hard to pull off purple and red that way.
I would get this as a tattoo. If I were 18 and had the money, neither of which is the case right now.
You're welcome to it if you ever decide you want it! All I ask is that you post a picture of it when it's done.
She asked me for something "girly and tribal" which I don't think I pulled off really well, but she liked it anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter. Hehe... But tribal things tend to have a lot of sharp edges, whereas girly things tend to be softer.
I actually love the purple/red combination when it can be done correctly. I've been experimenting with it for a long time, so I'm glad I'm finally getting the hang of it. Thanks for the comment. ^_^

Good idea: Making goat noises at a petting zoo to coax the cuddly goats closer.
Bad idea: Making goat noises at the airport while getting a cavity search.
Hey, looks tribal too me. A very Pacific Islander kind of tribal in any case. Which I think is the best way to make it girly. Island tribal can use sharp or soft but when you're using something like a flower, soft is the best way to go.
I should clarify on that. The kind of tribal designs she referenced when trying to describe to me what she watned were generally very sharp. I had to mash the two styles together. I do love a challenge. I love it even more when I can actually pull it off! As an artist, you know the feeling, I'm sure.
But, as I suggested in the forum, should you ever have the money to get a tattoo, you're welcome to this one. Or I can design one just for you. No charge. ^_^ I enjoy doing it.

Ah. Well, it still looks great. And I'm sure she still loved it regardless. The design is intricate and simple at the same time so it just ends up looking awesome. And yes, I do. It is the greatest feeling ever.
Now it's time for August 2008 Visual Art Features, many new art to discover!
Don't forget that many artists need to be viewed, they deserve it! Fave Fave Fave! My main purpose in doing a monthly feature about (to my point of view) 'the best visual art' is to put in the same level as well wellknown artists and popular creations as unknown artists and under-exposed creations. Artists need to be supported. So don't be shy!
